Exploring the Douro

The yellow lines on the map are the land portion of the trip, beginning with Lisbon. Days 1 and 2 were pre-tour which we spent exploring Lisbon with local guides. We arrived in Porto on day 4 and embarked up the Douro the evening of the 5th day. We finished the cruise and our last night on the ship was day 11. Day 12 was the final land portion with stops along the way to Madrid.

Sintra, a longtime royal sanctuary, best known for
its bright, pastel-colored villas and palaces as well as the Sintra National Palace, a UNESCO
World Heritage Site. Enjoy a visit to the palace followed by a drive to seaside Cascais for a
guided stroll through the city center. There are
a wealth of delicious restaurants in the area.
